"Historical Sketch of St. Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lexington County, S.C." by Rev. J.C. Wessinger includes the following information : "Grandfather Jacob Wesinger (sic) may very properly be regarded as the founder of this church, as he was the leading spirit in its inception and organization. He, together with his four sons David, Jesse, Henry and Daniel and his son-in-law, Capt. R.W. Frick, and a few others, with their families formed the nucleus of the congregation, so that at the first, it was very common, and for some time afterward, to a greater or less extent, to speak of St. Thomas as the "Wessinger" church." Inserted by Roger Davis.
