Descendant of Adam Ivey.

Ella was born in 1861,[1] the 14th of 15 children born to Thomas Jefferson Whaley Sr, and the first child of Thomas' fourth wife, Susan Myrick Ivey. Her half-siblings were: Elizabeth Jane, William Sanders, Eli Lafayette, Franklin Lucilius, Martha Moss, Thomas Jefferson Jr, Mary Judson, Sarah W, James Taylor,[2] Cortez Pizarro, Juuinne, Clara, and Cora Frances.[3][4] Her youngest sibling was Benjamin Franklin. She had one step-sibling: Theophilus Jackson Smith.
