Biography
Hanna Whaley was born October 5, 1781/82 in Loudoun County, Virginia, a daughter of William Whaley and Elizabeth (Johnston) Whaley. She was not the daughter of [[Whaley-1798|William Whaley who did not marry Elizabeth Johnson.
On August 19, 1809, Hannah married Joseph Horseman, son of William Horseman and Helena (Lay) Horeseman. Children of Hannah and Joseph are:
- Joseph Horseman, born August 19, 1809, (possibly died young)
- Fielder Horseman, born December 25 1814, in Bath county, Kentucky, died March 13, 1858
- Matilda Horseman, born 1817
- Whaley Jackson Horseman, born January 10, 1817, died July 24, 1895, married Nancy Cartmill
- Amelia Horseman, born 1822
- James Jefferson Horseman, born May 15, 1822, in Flat Creek, Bath county, Kentucky, died September 28, 1907, in Bath county, married Martha J. Gregory
- Hannah Horseman, born March 2, 1826, died March 13, 1904, married Nathaniel Markland
- Joseph Horseman, born October 3, 1827, died January 11, 1911, married Armon Traylor
Hanna (Whaley) Horseman died September 8, 1872 at 91 years of age, and is buried in the Cartmill cemetery in Bath County, Kentucky. [1]

William was the son of James Whaley (1720-1785) and Penelope King of Loudoun Co. VA. William settled in Bath Co KY where he was located in 1820, and lived a couple doors from Joseph Horseman, husband of Hannah Whaley.
James Whaley (1720-1785) of Loudoun Co VA is a relative of James Whaley (1728-1784) of Loudoun Co. There are multiple disputed versions of Ms. Horseman's ancestry based on confusion between these two Jameses, who are widely known as James Whaley Jr (1728-1784) "Flat Lick" and James Whaley Sr (1720-1785) "Broad Run".
Identifying the source information for the mother of Hannah Whaley Horseman would be invaluable, as both of these Jameses had a son William born about the same time, and both Williams are said to have married to someone named Elizabeth, usually with a questioned last name.
