Isaac Whaley (b. 14 Sep 1819 Liberty, Tenn.), was the son of:
Ellijah Whaley (b. Maryland),
and Rebecca Daugherty.
He was the first generation to be born in Tennessee. His father and grandfathers were born in Maryland.
Isaac married three times to:
(09 Mar 1841) Nancy Moore (age 16 in 1841 -d. 1847; bur. Salem Cemetery, Liberty, Tenn), dau. of Lemuel Moore & Catherine Fite
(24 Jul 1849) Nancy D. Bonum (d. 1881), dau. of John Bonum & Eliza.
(1888) Nancy Elizabeth Hawkins Whaley
Occupation
Isaac was the postmaster at Liberty, Tenn. for about 44 years, during and after the Civil War. He was also a merchant. He once stated that within his memory, Gen. Andrew Jackson was a guest at the Duncan hotel there. During his later years he was a cabinet maker, crafting fine wooden items for the local people. His sons worked the farm for him.

Death
Isaac Whaley died on 18 Feb 1901 in Liberty, Tenn. This was also the same year his son, Elijah Madsen Whaley, died. His burial site is thought to be with his third wife. His first wife is buried in Salem Cemetery in Liberty, Tennessee. While no grave stone was found with his name, it is still possible that he was buried there and his tone has sunk from view or it may have been vandalized.
Burial: FEB 1901 Salem Baptist Cemetery, Liberty, De Kalb, Tennessee[4].

He first married Margaret Evins and was a son of Isaac and Nancy A. Moore. Don't know the date of death for Lenuel M. but he was listed on the 1920 census in Mt. Vernon at age 73 with his wife second wife Susan Arthur age 57.
