Biography

Freelove was born in 1703[1] Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Ephraim Wheaton and Mary (Mason) Wheaton.[2][3]

On July 31, 1724 Justice Thomas Church married Freelove and Josiah Barney, (1699-1776), at Little Compton, Newport County, Rhode Island.[4] Their children are:[5]

Jabez Barney, b. 17 Jan 1725-26. d. 10 Sept 1744.[6][7]
Elizabeth Barney, b. 22 July 1729
Israel Barney, b. 16 Feb 1731-2, d. 1781.[8]
Joseph Barney, b. 19 March 1732-3, d. 15 Dec 1745-6.[9]
Benjamin Barney, b. 19 March 1732-3, thought to have died in the French and Indian War.[10]
Hannah Barney, b. 22 April 1735
Josiah Barney Jr., b. 10 August 1736 d. 4 Feb 1819.[11]
Christopher Barney, b. 28 June 1739, d. Sept 25, 1823.[12]
Freelove Barney, b. 27 Nov 1745, md. Benjamin Mason on 3 Oct 1779.[13]

It's known that Freelove was alive on March 26, 1750 when she signed a deed with Josiah[14] It's unknown where she's buried.[3]
