Biography
Captain Stephen was born in 1750. He was the son of Stephen Whipple and Phebe Ballou.
He married Lucina Paine by 1773. Togehter they had the following children (all born in Cumberland, Rhode Island):
- Bela Whipple, b. 18 May 1774
- Olney Whipple, b. 23 Aug 1777 d. 5 Jul 1793
- Nancy Whipple, b. 13 Jan 1780 d. 6 Oct 1791
- James Whipple, b. 19 Sep 1782 d. 5 Feb 1859

- Betsey Whipple, b. 25 Sep 1787 d. 9 Sep 1858
- Lucina Whipple, b. 18 May 1790 d. 12 Mar 1799
- Prussia Whipple, b. 13 Oct 1792 d. Jul 1843
