We were told by several older people of Simpson County that Jacob Roberts was James White's best friend and served in the Civil War together. When Jim was sick and knew he was going to die that he told Jacob to promise to take care of his wife Sarah Ann Hughes White and their 3 small children, so Jacob Roberts married her and they had more children.
