Biography

Oliver White was born in Windsor, Connecticut, on March 26, 1720, the youngest son of Captain Daniel White and his third wife, Elizabeth Bliss. [1] [2] [3]

He settled in Bolton, Connecticut, where he was known to be residing as of 1751. [2] [3]

On February 21, 1745, he married Mary Beecraft. [2] [3]

He moved to Saybrook, Connecticut, as early as 1762, and may have lived in other places as well. [2] [3]

He had five known children, however there is a twelve year gap between Mary and Pierce, so the list may not be complete. Records indicate "Mary" as the mother for the first three children, but no mother is listed for the youngest two, who may be from a second marriage: [3]

  1. George, born March 6, 1745/6 in Bolton;[4] married Mary Benton
  2. Tryphena, born 1747 in Bolton. The town record of Bolton says, born December 31, 1747;[5] the church record says, baptized October 11, 1747.
  3. Mary, baptized May 20, 1750.
  4. Pierce, born July 27, 1762 in Old Saybrook;[6] "Pearce," on record of baptism, at Saybrook.
  5. Joseph, born September 2, 1764 in Old Saybrook.[7]

Oliver White died in Saybrook, Connecticut, on September 13, 1801, at the age of 81. [2] [3]
