Biography
John Whitman was born in Stow, Massachusetts Bay on September 25, 1753, to Mary Foster, age 26, and John Whitman, age 36. John's family moved on the 'Charming Molly' to Nova Scotia, Canada in 1760. John Whitman married Elizabeth Rice in Stow, Massachusetts, in 1775/1780 when he was 22-27 years old. They had 13 children in 33 years John Whitman died on February 28, 1832, in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada, when he was 78 years old & buried Annapolis Royal, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
John Whitman, Esquire of the Township of Annapolis wrote his Last Will and Testament, 23 Jan 1832, leaving bequests to his wife Elizabeth, daughters: Maria Spurr the wife of Robert Spurr, Letitia Spurr the wife of William Spurr and Dorinda McDormand the wife of John McDormand, sons: Elnathan, James and Alfred and the sons of Elnathan: John, William Emond and Charles Bailey Whitman.
