They had 13 children in 33 years John Whitman died on February 28, 1832, in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada, when he was 78 years old & buried Annapolis Royal, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
John Whitman, Esquire of the Township of Annapolis wrote his Last Will and Testament, 23 Jan 1832, leaving bequests to his wife Elizabeth, daughters: Maria Spurr the wife of Robert Spurr, Letitia Spurr the wife of William Spurr and Dorinda McDormand the wife of John McDormand, sons: Elnathan, James and Alfred and the sons of Elnathan: John, William Emond and Charles Bailey Whitman.
