Glenn H. Whitmire, 74, of Cheyenne died April 8 at Sierra Hills assisted living.

He was born Feb. 9, 1937, in Breckenridge, Pa., a son to Clyde and Mary (Ferney) Whitmire. Glenn received his early schooling in Pennsylvania before enrolling at the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to Gettysburg Seminary School where he graduated and became an ordained Lutheran Minister. He served as pastor at several churches in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. Mr. Whitmire moved to Bakersfield, Calif., where he started his own professional management business in environmental engineering.

Glenn married Mary Angle on March 2, 1963, in Hagerstown, Md. She passed away on July 11, 1994.

He has resided in Cheyenne for the last year and a half. He was an avid wine maker and loved to cook.

He is survived by his son, Stephen (Lisa) Whitmire of Cheyenne; two daughters, Denise (Ed) Axemacher of Loganville, Ga., and Deborah (Chris) Cardone of Auburn, Ga.; a brother, Clyde Whitmire of Lexington, Pa.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Frank Whitmire.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Services under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomksy Chapel. Private family services are being planned with final interment being at Center Church in Garrett, Pa., at a later date.
