Lydia Whitney was born on 18 Apr 1695, in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. She was the daughter of John Whitney and Sarah Haven,[1] John's second wife.
Lydia married Richard Haven (b. 8 Jan 1692, Framingham) in Framingham on 4 Feb 1714.[2] After their marriage, they stayed in Framington, where they registered the births of 13 children:
Lydia and Richard were admitted to the church in Framingham May 12, 1717.
Richard Haven died in Athol, Worcester County, Province of Massachusetts Bay on 3 Aug 1770.[21]
Lydia (Whitney) Haven may have died in Athol, Worcester County, Province of Massachusetts Bay in November of 1790, if the record mis-estimated her age at the time of her death as 90 (b. 1700), instead of 95 (b. 1695).[22]
Research Note
The fourteenth child, the second Simon Haven, has been included in the list of Richard and Lydia Haven's children, but there is no entry in the collected records of Framington to support this. The existance, parentage and date of birth for this child depend on Seward's unsourced A History of the Town of Sullivan, New Hampshire, p. 1008:
"RICHARD3 HAVEN, son of Moses, b. in Lynn, Mass., Jan. 8, 1692/3; d. in Athol, Mass., Aug. 3, 1770, m. 4 Feb. 1713/4, Lydia Whitney, b. Apr. 1695, in Framingham, Mass. ... IV. SIMON4 HAVEN, son of Richard, was b. in Framingham, Mass., July 2, 1735."
The date of 2 Jul 1735 is, curiously, the date of death of Simon's brother, Elias, and would be too soon after Elias's birth on 19 Feb 1735, to be accurate. The date for this second Simon's birth has, therefore, been changed to 2 Jul 1736, and labeled "uncertain."
