Robert was born about 1672. He was the son of David Wickliffe and Elizabeth Unknown. He passed away in 1698.
That he is the son of David II and his first wife Elizabeth is based on the fact that he was of age in 1693, and so able to be one of his father's executors. Colonial laws at the time would have required him to be at least 21 at that time. He could not then be the son of David II's second wife, Mary, as David and Mary were married after Sep 1677.
He married Margaret (Pierce) Gower, daughter of Col. William Pierce, who also served as executor of Robert's estate. According to his will, Robert had one son, David, who apparently did not live to adulthood, as he does not appear in the records after being named in his father's will.
