Biography

Benjamin was born in about 1760, the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Mann) Wilkes in Virginia.

In around 1792-1795 Benjamin would marry Mary King Orr. They would have a large family as follows:

Minor C. M. Wilkes (1794–1825)

Richard Ambrose Lipscomb Wilkes (1799–1867)

Elizabeth L. (Wilkes) Wilkens (1802– )

Mary King (Wilkes) Orr (1805–1870)

Sarah D. (Wilkes) Prewett/McDonald (1806–1870)

Unity K. Wilkes (1808–1835)

William Brown Wilkes (1817–1881)

Washington Lafayette Jefferson Wilkes (1824–1887)

Benjamin would leave Virginia and eventually end up living in Maury County, Tennessee, in around 1803, where the youngest of his children were born.

Its unclear when Mary would die, but Benjamin lived until 1827 when he passed away at around 67 years of age in Maury County, Tennessee. No burial records could be found.
