Treat Williams was an American actor and writer, known for his work on Everwood and Hair. He appeared in more than 120 productions in film, stage, and television. He was nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards, nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, as well as two Satellite Awards, and an Independent Spirit Award.[1]
Treat's full name was Richard Treat Williams. He was born in 1951, the son of Richard Williams, a business executive, and Marian Andrew, an antique dealer. He was named for his maternal grandfather, Treat Payne Andrew.
Treat's maternal great-great-great-grandfather was Senator William Henry Barnum of Connecticut, a third cousin of the showman P. T. Barnum.[2] Williams was a distant relative of Robert Treat Paine, who was a signatory to the Declaration of Independence.[3][4]

His Broadway credits include Follies (2001); Love Letters (1989); The Pirates of Penzance (1981); Once in a Lifetime (1978); and Grease (1972).[6]
Treat passed away 12 June 2023 after a motorcycle accident at the age of 71.[7]
