On Tuesday at St Matthew's Church Miss Violet Isabel only daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Williams was married to Mr Cyril William Birch. The ceremony was performed by the Rev W. Curzon-Siggers. The bride, who waa given away by her father, looked very well in white satin gown with square train hanging from the high waist, the bodice draped with lovely Brussels lace. She wore a tulle veil and carried. a shower bouquet of white flowers relieved with a touch of pink. Three tiny bridesmaids were in attendance, the Misses Letitia and Barbara Williams (nieces), and little Misa June Batchelor, who all wore soft white muslin frocks embroidered in Wedgewood Blue, and large sailor shaped hats with cream lace and bunches of Wedgwood blue flowers; each carried a posy of pink flowers. After the ceremony, the guests adjourned to Claremont, the residence of the bride's parents, where a reception was held, the host and hostess receiving on the verandah, and the bride in the drawing-room, standing under a lovely white bell. The table decorations were of pale yellow in the dining-room, and the numerous and beautiful presents were shown in the morning-room. Later in the day, Mr and Mrs Birch left for the Lakes, the bride, wearing a cream tailor-made, with narrow brown stripes, handsome furs and small brown hat. The bride's mother wore a costume of violet cloth finished with Oriental trimming, a violet-coloured hat with black feathers, and carried a lavender bouquet. Mrs Ernest Williams wore strawberry-coloured silk with cream lace, small hat to match; Mrs Carl Williams (Gisborne) pale blue shot silk costume, black hat with long white feather; Mrs C. Rattray black charmeuse with electric blue finishings, large black velvet hat with white plumes; Miss Allen, shot green taffeta silk, hat to match; Miss Fanny Rattray, pale grey costume, grey feather hat; Miss K. Ulrich, saga green charmeuse, hat trimmed with green roses; Miss Chapman (Wellington), grey costume, black hat with white feathers; Miss Holdsworth, white embroidered muslin, black feather hat. Others present were: The Rev W. and Mrs Curzon-Siggers, Mr and Mrs Butterworth, Mr and Mrs C. Rattray, the Misses Rattray, Mrs and Miss Woodhouse, Dr and Mrs Stanley Batchelor, Dr and Mrs. Ernest Williams Mr and Mrs Carl Williams, the Misses Williams, Miss Batchelor, Dr and Mrs Claud Williams, Dr and Mrs Marshall, Mr E. and Miss Webster, Dr Bathgate, Dr and Mrs and Miss Ogston, Mr and Mrs Philip Wright, Miss M. Turton, Miss Fitzgerald and Miss Hosking.
