William Williams was baptised in 1802 at Freystrop parish church, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Williams. William married Margaret Thomas in 1839 at Freystrop parish church. His father Joseph was one of the witnesses. William and Margaret can be found on the 1841 census living at his widower father’s farm, at Lower Freystrop. At that point in time William and Margaret had no children. They next turn up on record in 1851 again at Joseph’s farm in 1851, but this time William and Margaret have two children, Thomas born 1841, and Elizabeth born 1843. William seems not to have followed in his father’s footsteps, because according to the 1861 and 1871 census William’s occupation is listed as farm worker, and Labourer. By 1861 the children had left home, Thomas had moved to Roch, and I have not been able to find Elizabeth, beyond 1851. It is more than likely that both Margaret and William died sometime after 1871, but as yet I have not found a burial for either of them.
