Biography

John was born in 1925. He was the son of Gerard Willke and Marie Wuennemann.

He was a graduate of Roger Bacon High School (1942) and received his MD from the University of Cincinnati (1948).

He married Barbara Jean Hiltz (1923-2013) in 1948. They were the parents of six children. He was a family physician and obstetrician. With Barbara, in the early 1970's he founded Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati. He and Barbara were the authors of several books on abortion that were influential in the pro-life movement. He served as president of the National Right to Life Committee from 1980 until the early 1990's.

He passed away in 2015. He is buried in Saint Clare Convent Cemetery in Hamilton County, Ohio.
