David married Margaret Peggy (Griffith) Willoughby on 23 October 23, 1797 in Fauquier County, Virginia. Most likely she was his second wife. They moved to Mason County Kentucky sometime after their marriage.

David Willoughby was the father of Winnifred (Willoughby) Griffith.

David died in 1829 in Mason County, KY.
