Biography

Drusilla Noble, Postmaster at Sexton, Passes – Last rites for Mrs. Drusilla Noble, 65, well-known postmaster at Sexton, were held Wednesday at 2:00pm in the First Baptist church in Algona. Rev. Roland Andrews, Algona, and Rev. Webb of the Methodist church officiated at the services and burial followed in the Buffalo Township Cemetery at Titonka. McCullough's Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mrs. Noble died at 4:00am Monday morning in her home at Sexton, following a short illness.

Drusilla Wise, daughter of Greene and Sarah Wise, was born September 30, 1889 at Irvine, KY. She was married to David Noble at Bloomington, IL, and after his death in October of 1928, moved to Sexton to be near her own family.

She practiced nursing and then ran the grocery store at Sexton when her brother Herman moved to a farm. Later on, she was made assistant postmaster, then was named postmaster 10 years ago.

Survivors include her son, Tom of Chicago, her daughter, Anna (Mrs. Martin Hinders), Britt and a stepson June Noble of Britt. Other survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Steven, Mapleton, MN; Mrs. Charles Stratton, Englewood, CA; Mrs. Arch Burger and Mrs. Nell Opheim of Sexton; and three brothers, Strother, Mason City; Herman, Wesley and Mack, Sexton. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were John Stratton, Lloyd Wise, Loren Steven, Ed Hammond, Alfred Opheim and G.B. Wise, nephews of the deceased.
