Summary
When August Joseph Wittbrodt was born on January 1, 1870, along with his twin brother John Bernard, his father, Joseph, was 31, and his mother, Mary, was 21. In 1872 he emigrated at the young age of 2 from Wierichutrin, Lauenburg, W. Prussia to the United States. He was the first born of the twins. He married Bertha Johanna Ludwovia Wittbrodt Zube on September 16, 1891, in Bay City, Michigan. It was her second marriage. Including step-children, they had 15 children in the family over 25 years. There is a 1958 newspaper article showing Mark and Michael Swank, the fifith-generation great-great grandsons and twins of August.

August died on June 10, 1962, in Bay City, Michigan, at the age of 92, and was buried there. ^[11][12]
