John Scott West was born on August 5, 1957 in San Angelo, Tom Green, Texas, United States, son of Bernie Vernon Womble (1929–2007) and Joan Barber (1930–2021).^[1]

John died on June 24, 2015 in Maryland, United States, aged 57. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida.^{[2] [3]}

JOHN SCOTT WEST, 57, of Fort Washington, MD, formerly of Cocoa Beach, FL died from complications of lung cancer. He attended Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, VA, was a U.S. Air Force veteran who was an airframe repair specialist, moved to FL and had a career in the construction industry. Scott relocated to Big Sur, CA where he continued his career in construction working as a Construction Supervisor for Blaze Engineering and earning his California Water Distribution System Operator certification and relocated to Fort Washington, MD. Preceded in death by his father, Bernie Womble; stepfather, Raymond H West and younger brother, Jeffrey, surviving are his wife, Annette (married 5/19/08); mother, Joan; siblings, Cat Gorto, Christy (Paul) Hoffman and brother-in-law, William Williams. A celebration of life will be held August 1, 2015 at a private residence in Satellite Beach, FL. Published in the Florida Today July 12, 2015.
