Biography
Levi WOOD was born 28 Sep 1740 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay, British Colonial America.
Intemperate and guardianship
In 1798, the selectman of the town of Middleborough, petitioned the Plymouth Probate court to appoint a guardian to his estate. It appeared that he was "wasting, and spending his estate by excessive drinking, and idleness, that it appears there is danger that he and his family are in danger of coming to want, and to be expensive to the said town".[1]
In 1798, Joseph Clark and William Bourne both of Middleborough were appointed to be guardians of his estate.[2]
An inventory of his estate was recorded in Plymouth on 30 April 1798.[3]
In 1799, his guardians apprehended that his estate was insufficient to pay his debts.[4] An account of his guardianship was recorded which included the sale of real estate, and paying off the mortgage.[5]
Levi died 15 Jan 1807 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States.
