Jesse Louis Wood was the son of Solomon Wood and Jennie Catherine or Jane Katherine Tarkinten or Tarbutton Wood of Conn's Creek, Cherokee County, GA, near the town of Ball Ground. Siblings include: Humphrey Jackson, William, Henry, Virginia, Jesse Louis, and Mary.
Jesse married Sarah E. Holcomb, August 12, 1869, in Cherokee County, GA. (Cherokee Marriages, Book D, p. 439) They had many children: Rachel, Nancy, Bella, Henry F., William M., John S., Ida C., James E., and Lewis M. Wood and there are probably others.
J.L. Wood was a merchant and farmer.
SAD DEATH OF MR. J.L. WOOD
Mr. J.L. Wood, a prominent citizen of Cherokee County, died at his home in Conns Creek District last week after a short illness. Mr. Wood was 66 years of age, having been born in the house in which he died. Mr. Wood was a good citizen and a Christian gentleman, and stood for the advancement of his county and community.
In early manhood he professed his faith in the Lord and affiliated himself with the Baptist faith. Mr. Wood had been married twice and to these unions twelve children were born, five of whom are dead, one of the living sons being Col Jno. S. Wood, of Canton.
