Obituary
Orrin B. Woodman
Funeral services were held at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at one o'clock Sunday for O. B. Woodman, whose death occurred Thursdaymorning at his home in the village, following a prolonged illness.
Rev. Herold Biederman officiated and Mrs. Howard Roe and Caroline Decker sant "In the Garden" and Sometime Will Understand." Organist was Mrs. Lyle Mandigo.
The pallbearers were the following nephews: Earl Henry, James and Lloyd Favre, Don Eldred and Edward and Tom Galligan. Internment was made in the Lakeview Cemetery.
Orrin B., the oldest son of the late Lorenzo and Emma (Smart) Woodman, was born in Richland County, Wis., Apr. 28, 1888. When three yearsold, he came with his parents to this community since that time has resided here. After finishing his schooling, he received training in barbering and established a barber shop in the village which operated about 36 years.
On November 21, 1909, he was united in marriage to Lulu Callahan and to this union was born a daughter, Louise, Mrs. Orrin Hall.
Mr. Woodman was always actively interested in social and civil affairs of the village. He served as village recorder for more than 20 years and as treasurer for a long period of time. During later years he has acted as agent for various insurance companies, until his failing health obliged him to dispense with all activities. He has long been affiliated with the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving him, besides his wife and daughter, are two grandsons, Bruce Hall of Thief River Falls, and James Hall of East Lansing, Mich. There are five great grand children, his brother, Charlie, and the following sisters: Mrs. Clarence Henry (Hildred) of Minneapolis, and Mrs.Vern Favre (Evelyn) of Excelsior; and many other relatives.
Two brothers, James and Leanord, and an infant sister, preceeded him in death.
Many relatives and friends came from a distance to be present for thelast rites.
Grey Eagle Gazette 27 Feb 1941 page 5:
Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Woodman left for Thief River Falls Saturday afternoon when they received a message advising that their grandson, Bruce Hall had been scalded in an accident at his home in that city. They returned home Tuesday afternoon and report that Bruce is recovering although still confined to his bed having suffered quite a serious burn onone of his legs from the back part of the hip down to beneath the knee when he tipped a pan of hot water off the stove. On the return trip Mr. and Mrs. Woodman stopped at Erskine, Minn., for a short visit with Avery Huffman, a former Grey Eagle resident who is now employed atthat place.
