• 18 Dec 1870 - John's death was registered in Derby during the December quarter of 1870, his age was recorded as 64 years. ^[5] Note B

Notes

• A) - Listed as a widower on the 1851 census, no marriage found. Listed as unmarried on the 1861 census.
• B) - The inscription on a gravestone from St.Clement's Church, Horsley reads "Elizabeth Wright of Derby died 24th August 1873 aged 68. Also of John Woodward brother of the above formerly of Horsley Coppice died 18th December 1870 aged 63 years". An incorrect transcription exists which has used the name 'Thomas' instead of 'Elizabeth' ^{[7] [8]}
