Biography

William Woodyard was born in Prince William County, Virginia about 1788. He was the son of John Woodyard and Ann Thomas. In 1806, he was a Private in the One Hundred Thirteenth Regiment of the Virginia Militia.[1] About 1810 he married a woman named Judith, and they had the following known children (census records show at least four additional children):[2]

  1. Matthew Woodyard, b. May 1823; d. aft. 1900; m. 1) Maria; m. 2) Isabella Cooper.
  2. Arthur F. Woodyard, b. 1826; d. aft. 1880; m. Sarah Brawner.
  3. Jane Woodyard, b. Mar 1828; d. aft. 1900; m. 1) James E. Evans; m. 2) William Bryant.
  4. Mary Woodyard, b. 23 May 1830; d. 18 Feb 1911; m. William H. Evans.

William died in April 1860, and Judith died a month later.[5]

My son-in-law, Tony Ankers, is a descendant of William and his wife Judith Warder(1787-1860) dtr. of Joseph Warder, Sr. (1752-1832) and his wife Esther Ford (1755-1816); both died in Kentucky. William and Judith were the parents of Matthew (1823-1909) who was married to Maria Isabella Connor (1825-1916). They lived in Prince William Co,, VA. Noland 588.
