rural school teacher, sometimes called Anna Mary, lifelong intellectual , "true eccentric"
Anne M. Wooldridge, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Lightfoot) Wooldridge, was born in the city of Hull, Yorkshire, England, May 21st, 1849. She came to this country on a sailing vessel, called Jacob A. Westerveldt, which took seven weeks to cross, arrived in New York City on the evening before the Fourth of July, 1853. Her first recollection of this country was seeing fireworks from the boat, she also said the sailors went ashore and got drunk so that the Captain had to call on volunteers from among the passengers to control them, her father being one of the volunteers.
There are several letters from Anna Wooldridge (1863, Twinsburg, OH; Hudson, OH; 1865-1866 Stow, OH; 1874 Toronto, KS; other friends to Anne - Sebewa 1878; Tecumsah 1879) to her cousin Anne Wooldridge (this Anne) in my possession
