Death of Col. William Christian Richard Woolfolk, a Kentucky Pioneer identified with early Kentucky history of Jefferson Co. It was Woolfolk who caught Col. William Christian in his arms when that pioneer fell, a victim of the Indians.
Death of Col. William Christian - In 1785 he settled near Louisville. The year following a group pursued a party of marauding Indians across the Ohio River, and overtook them near the spot where Jeffersonville, Ind., now is. There he was shot and killed - the Indians, were killed by Christian's companions. His body was carried home, and the inscription on his tombstone states that he was killed April 9, 1786, aged 43.
