May was born on 09 Apr 1920 in Illinois. Her parents were John Woolridge and Elizabeth Jones. In 1920, the family was living in Larkinsburg, Clay, Illinois.^[1] By 1930, the family had moved to Bourbon, Douglas, Illinois.^[2] By 1940, the family had moved again - this time to Lovington, Lovington Township, Moultrie, Illinois.^[3]
