He married Sarah Jacob at Kensington in 1853.[1] He was a plasterer when he emigrated with Sarah, then aged 28, with children, Richard Charles, 5; Emily Sarah, 3 and Edward Gibson 1.5; to Canterbury, New Zealand on the Zealandia in 1858.[2] On board they lost their infant son, Edward Gibson, and their daughter, Zealandia Louisa, was born.
Later the Worth family moved to Wellington where Charles eventually became a licensed victualler. He was also involved with the Ancient Order of Foresters, the Wellington Working Men's Club and was a Wellington City Councillor.
Charles passed away suddenly at Adelaide in 1897 while on a trip back to England. His body was returned to Wellington for burial.[3][4]
