*WIKIPEDIA NOTES ON TOWN S AND CITIES THAT I HAVE LIVED IN:
George kept me out of trouble with higher ranking officers as I became accustomed to being an officer in the Texas National Guard. When at summer camp at Fort Hood, Texas for my first camp as an officer, the S1 of battalion headquarters came around collecting money to help pay for the annual battalion officers party we always had during the camp period, I told him I would not be going to the party as I didn't drink. Captain George pulled me over to one side and told me it was not an invitation but a command that I go as all of the battalion officers were required to attend the battalion commander's party. George told me to go to the party, get me a coke in a glass, and shake hands with the battalion commander, and a little later, if I wanted to leave, just ease out the door. So, that is what I did and every one was happy.
George got me out several bad situations until I was able to go it alone as a new officer.
George Worthington was indeed a very wise man and a good officer. George earned the Combat Infantryman Badge during World War II as well as other medals while serving in the European theater.
