She taught at Butler High School in Hartsville, South Carolina, Palmetto High School in Mullins, South Carolina, and John Ford High School in St. Matthews. Subsequently, Adelle was an assistant professor of biology at Morris College and South Carolina State College, and was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
In 1974, Adelle became the first black woman to earn a Ph.D. at Clemson University.[1]
She died in 1995 and was interred at Belleville Memorial Gardens.[1]
She was survived by five sisters, three brothers, three aunts, and an uncle.[1]
