[9]THE LATE MR. G. WUNDERLICH.
The death occurred yesterday morning at the Grafton District Hospital of Mr.
George Wunderlich at the advanced age of 85 years. He came to Australia at an
early age with his parents from Germany, and on reaching manhood he followed the
occupation of a builder. He was one of the oldest contractors of Grafton, and many of the principal buildings of the district stand to his credit, including a number of the Prince street business premises.
About 40 years ago Mr. Wunderlich took an active part in public affairs, and for some years he served as an alderman in the Grafton City Council. He was prominently associated with the Masonic fraternity and was a Past Master of the Lodge Prince Leopold.
The work of the Friendly Societies also claimed his attention, and he took a leading part in the Manchester Unity Order of Oddfellows, in which Order he was a Past Noble Grand. About three years ago Mr. Wunderlich retired into private life, but for the past two years or so his health was very indifferent.
He is survived by his widow and two sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs. Carl and Norman Wunderlich, both of Sydney, and the daughters are Mesdames Hamer, of Bangalow, and Everingham, of Sydney.
The funeral is appointed to leave the deceased's late residence in Queen street at 3 o'clock this afternoon for the Grafton cemetery. Members of the Masonic and Oddfellows Lodges will be attending the funeral.
