Biography
Son of Charles Yates of Virginia and Emelia "Milly" Bibb (c.1802-), Harvey Scott Yates was born in December 1834 in Kentucky; his father died before 1850, leaving Milly with three sons in the home - James (1828-), Harvey, and John (1836-). He married Georgia Ann 'Georgiann' Beckham (1845–1929) on March 5, 1861, in Platte, Missouri.[1] They had twelve children during their marriage although only seven were still living in 1910.[2] He died on October 9, 1910, in Platte, Missouri,[3] having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried in Platte City, Missouri.[4]
