Age, Itje, and children immigrated to the USA in 1924, arriving at Ellis Island in New York aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam.[3]
The family settled in Zeeland, Zeeland, Ottawa, Michigan. Age (now Andrew} returned to the Netherlands. He is absent on the 1930 and 1940 census.[4][5][6] His obituary speaks of "18 years of sickness and suffering and enforced separation from his loved ones".
Itje (now Ellen) passed away on July 1, 1974 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan, and was buried at Zeeland Cemetery in Zeeland, Ottawa County, Michigan.[7]
