Biography

Grace York was born say 1657,[1] She died perhaps Exeter, Province of New Hampshire,

Grace York married in Exeter, Norfolk (old) County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, 31 May 1675,[2][3] John Gilman.[4]

Research Notes

Prior version. A prior version of the profile reported her death at Kingston, Rockingham, New Hampshire, 11 March 1743 on the same date as we report the death of her husband, John Gilman (abt.1650-1743).

Birth. Grace was not yet 18 at the time of her father's 1672 will. Reading of will suggests she was the youngest daughter, if not the youngest child. Was she older than Benjamin?

Sources

  1. Grace York is generally shown as Richard and Elizabeth's youngest child, probably by a reading of her father's will, but she may have been older than Benjamin. Grace was not yet 18 on 23 April 1672 (Richard's will), so born after 1654; if she was aged 21 at marriage, she would have been born about 1654.

Might we have a source or some basis for the claim of her death at Kingston, Rockingham County, New Hamprhire, 11 March 1743? (On the same day her husband, John Gilman (abt.1650-1743), died.) --Gene
