Biography

Ann was born in Leeds in 1822 and Christened weeks after her birth.^[1][2] She married Thomas Coates in Monkwearmouth in 1848.^[3]
Note: As Ann's family name is shown as Young, her father's surname as Marsh, and her marital status as widowed, it's reasonable to assume that her former husband's surname was Young. Record of an earlier marriage is yet to be found. At the time of the 1871 census, the family were residing in Bishopwearmouth, and Ann's father was also living with them.^[4] Ann passed away in Sunderland in 1899.^[5]
