In 1922 she married James Charles Whiteside. [2] After the wedding the couple were living with her parents, along with her siblings John and Lilian, at 192 Moreland Rd. East Brunswick. Her elder brother William Moses and his wife Charlotte were living next door at 194. [3]
In 1925 Susan made a claim against her husband in the Brunswick Court, alleging she had been deserted by her husband and that he was not contributing to the support of her children. She was living at Moreland Rd., East Brunswick (probably with her parents - see above) and his occupation was described as a printer's labourer, earning £4/11 per week, approximately $400 in 2022[4] The police magistrate declined to make an order. [5]
Susan and James had moved to 126 Moreland Rd East Brunswick by 1942 (James died in 1932) which is where she died on the 11th September, 1949 aged 62 years. [6][7][8] She was buried at Fawkner Memorial Park on 13 September 1949. [9][10]
