John Benning Monk Young was born on July 21, 1901 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and baptized at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Church of England,[1] situated at the corner of St. Urbain and Prince Arthur streets. [2]
John died on February 29, 1980 in Montréal, Quebec, aged 78.[4]
He enlisted for WW1 on 10 Mar 1916, and lists his date of birth incorrectly as 20 July 1900, age 15. He was assigned to the 148th Overseas Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF).[5][6]
