John Benning Monk Young was born on July 21, 1901 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and baptized at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Church of England,[1] situated at the corner of St. Urbain and Prince Arthur streets. [2]

John (22) married Helen Isobel Torry Taylor (19) on April 12, 1924 in Verdun, Montreal.[3] Their children were:

He enlisted for WW1 on 10 Mar 1916, and lists his date of birth incorrectly as 20 July 1900, age 15. He was assigned to the 148th Overseas Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF).[5][6]

JB served in WW2 as a Medic.[7]
