Goldie Louise Young (daughter of Willis Smith Young and MARY ADELINE MARVIN)974 was born January 24, 1871 in Saint George, UT, USA974, 975, and died July 19, 1894 in Soda Springs, ID, USA976.

Includes NotesNotes for Goldie Louise Young: Goldie was the second child of Mary Adelaide and Willis Smith Young. She does not appear to be in the records of her father but she raised my grandmother when Mary Adelaide Merrill was unable to do it. Goldie was the mother to all her younger half siblings and they worshiped her. When their father had to leave them to try to earn some money Goldie came up with a plan. They made sandwiches and packed food that they sold on the trains of people moving west. They not only survived they had pain off a lot of the bills by the time their father Francis Marian Merrill came back. I had heard such wonderful stories of Goldie I was shucked to find out she was a tiny hunch back (from a fall) and had only lived to the age of 23. The siblings erected a monument at her grave in Soda Springs, Idaho.
