Biography

Margaret Eleanor was the daughter of Judge Alexander Younger and Jane Merchant (Hancock) Younger.

Margaret was married in Dec 1844, to her first husband, Sterling B. Allen (also known as John Allen) and bore him two sons including Sterling or "Stirling" Bryon Allen.

After John Allen's death, she married Augustus Barry in 1850. This was the second marriage for both of them.

Augustus and Margaret Eleanor were the parents of nine more children. The Barry families resided in Springfield, Tehuacana, and Corsicana, Texas. One of the older sons, Bryan Thomas Barry served as the Mayor of Dallas, Texas, from 1894 to 1895, 1897 to 1898, and 1904 to 1906.

Margaret Eleanor Allen Barry passed away in 1904 at 76 years of age. She was buried at the Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas.
