Biography
Violet was born in 1903. She passed away in 1966.
What a hard / cold couple Ernest & Violet must have been. After having 4 girls they gave away their 5th daughter because they only wanted a boy. It seems most of their offspring are just as emotionally cold. The sisters too rejected this girl when she finally found them. What a wonderful family! Not!
The 5th girl was given to their Neighbours (the Mackie's) Mackie-1778 as a gift. The Mackies were childless and lived at Balmain. They were neighbours and friends of the Gibbs family. Violet's signature is on the Mackies marriage certificate. The Mackies took and raised their "GIFT" as theirs, hundreds of kilometers from Balmain in an era when this sort of thing was possible.
