Christian was born in 1835. He passed away in 1889.

Family stories indicate that Christian Zipse came to the United States in 1852 on a cattle boat at the age of 19.

He was a bandmaster in Germany.

His sisters Juliana and Wilhelmina followed him to the U.S. later.

They went first to New York, then to Bucyrus and Galion, Crawford County, Ohio.

Christian was reported to have worked in a brewery in Ohio.

In 1884 they family moved from Ohio to Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas, near St. John, Stafford County, Kansas.

Later they homsteaded in Rose Valley Township, SW/4 of Section 4, Township 25, Range 13 West of the 6th Meridian, in Stafford County. The location of this farm is about 6 1/2 miles south of St. John, Kansas.
