Open a comment box when creating an unmerged match, same as with proposed merge

Back in March 2014, various commenting features were added to better inform the merging process. Among other things, these features mean that when contributors propose merges or reject proposed merges, we can leave a comment without bumping up against the daily quota of 20 comments or messages. However, when we mark an unmerged match that was not previously a proposed merge, if we want to add a comment to explain why we aren't creating a proposed merge yet, we have to open the comment box separately for each profile -- and the comment counts toward the daily quota.

To foster more communication, could the system be modified to automatically open an optional comment box whenever an unmerged match is created de novo?

Several of us have been asking for this for quite some time. I'm not sure how many people have to upvote your proposal for it to be acted on.

I just added my up vote.  I think this would be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I think Chris explained somewhere the reasoning behind only having the comment on one profile. I'll have to dig for the thread though.
Eowyn,

I would like to see the comment on both profiles, also, but if Chris has a reason, I'm sure that it's a good one that has not occurred to me.  I don't think that's what is being discussed here, though.

This is about having the comment for unmerged matches, as well as for merges.
Ahhhh, silly me.
you???? sillly??????? never, ever, EVER, girlfriend!  If you want to see silly, look at the recent post about emoticons!!!!!

Oh I've seen it smileyangrycooldevilyes

Adding a comment to unmerged matches would be outstanding!

As Jillaine said, old topic.  But I'd also like to see it done, as I've mentioned before.  Also, a comment box for Rejected Match.  Sometimes, to figure out that two profiles are different people, I've had to go two or more generations away from one of the profiles to find a date!  Then, it would be nice to leave a note like, "Smith-12345's paternal grandmother born 1634, so wrong era."

And while this does create two comments on the resulting merged profile, those can be deleted by a profile manager after the merge is complete.

Once again I have had to type explanations into comment boxes (on both profiles), individually when I've created unmerged matches. Thought I'd bump this question up again. Pretty Please could we have a comment/explanation/reason box in the postpone with an unmerged match page.

Yes, please, a comment box inviting to give reasons when setting an unmerged match would be a great help. (bumping...)
