Where's my "Show me" state folks at?!

Thank you for volunteering to help and for joining our team. This post will create a thread where we can work together to coordinate our efforts. This is the place for the team to ask questions, give advice, see updates, and cheer each other on.

Is there a list of unconnected profiles that we can use to work from or should we poke around and find someone?
by Nikki Orvis G2G6 Mach 2 (24.9k points)

Hi Nikki! I'm going to start with my own profiles that need connecting. If you go to this page while logged in, it should bring up your list.

You can also go to the main Connect-a-thon page for suggestions.

Hi! I signed up on the main connect-a-thon how do I officially join your team? Thanks for reaching out.
by L Costello G2G4 (4.7k points)
When did you sign up? I don't have you on my team list.
Hi Lori,

I signed up just before the deadline. You replied about Team Missouri. I understand if it too late to get attached to your team. Thanks. Here is a link.

Well, easiest thing to do is add a profile and we'll see if you show up on my team. Otherwise, one of us can send Mindy an email to double check. If she put you on my team, everything is transparent and you should be good to go.
Looks like you ended up on the Super Sweepers.
Oh man, next time I'll make sure to get on your team. Thanks!
Really could've used the help. Not sure why she put you where she did.

I'll be looking for you for the Source-a-thon. Make sure to specify Team MO when you sign up.
Great news! Mindy got you moved to our team where you should've been all along.

I added a profile before I came in to work, will do more tonight.

I'll probably be focusing on my family (at least at first) to try to connect mother's side to the main tree. I've got a lot of names (thanks to [[Space:Wagon_Load_of_Cookwood]], but I'll have to get other sources for a lot of them (Census records have been fun!))

It was fun reading through that, and seeing the area I grew up in through their eyes. (At one point, the Moore family had moved to Cobden IL area, and Heber mentions being interested in a Clutts girl... would be interesting if it was the grandma of a good friend I had in high school. :)

Sounds like you found a wonderful resource for your family!

Can someone check the tracker and make sure I'm showing up for Team MO? It looks like my stuff is going under Super Sweepers
by Crystal Stevenson G2G6 (6.9k points)
You're correct. Can you email Mindy Silva and let her know please?
nevermind. I just emailed her about you and L. Costello who also ended up on the Super Sweepers.

Really reconsidering this running a team thing. It always seems to be something.
Great news! Mindy got you moved to our team where you should've been all along.

Yay!! I just looked! I'm here smiley

I'm thrilled! We can use you two way more than the Super Sweepers plus you two were supposed to be on Team MO from the get-go. Really happy Mindy was able to get it fixed.

Very excited to be on Team Missouri! Currently I'm working on my husband's family in Iowa. I working from a family book that is 250 pages in small print (grrr) and sourcing from Family Search. I'm only adding relatives that were born before 1920 and I keep hoping to find a wikitree connection somewhere. So far, nothing, my family is the only connection my husband's tree has to the wider wikitree!

Thank you Lori for getting me moved to your team!

You're welcome! Happy that it actually happened.

So far, I've been working on the branches of a military vet I added a few years back. Not related to him but he was someone special enough that I'm crushing on him. lol I've made one connection so far out of all the profiles I've added.
Yay! Finally connected my husband's tree to an existing profile, only took 58 new profiles! Time for a break.
That's awesome! I'm done for the day myself. I'll be back at it in the morning after I go look for a car. Yay.

Was anyone on the chat earlier, at  noon est?  There were some comments made about what was 'counting' and what did not.  Apparently if we add a new profile, connecting to an existing record, it counts, but if you add additional to the new profile, then it will not.  Multiple records apparently don't count either??   Looks like the scores are going to be way off.
by Mary Thomas G2G6 Mach 1 (18.0k points)
I didn't see it but the main Connect-a-thon page should list what counts. My understanding is every new profile counts. However, if you make a connection to an existing profile the existing profile won't count in your total. If only making a connection counted, my score would currently be 2. Sometimes I have to add profiles up a chain or out through kids to actually connect to an existing profile.

From the main page:

Each time you add a new family member (parent, sibling, spouse or child) to an existing profile, you will earn a point. New profiles must have at least one valid source.

(For scoring purposes it doesn't matter if the person for whom you're adding a family member is connected or unconnected. Every missing family member we add increases the chances of connecting people.)

Just wanted to say you guys are doing a fantastic job! I'm so impressed with the numbers I'm seeing.

I have to apologize for my poor performance on this one. I'm currently scrambling to find a used car to buy before I lose my rental on Wednesday and it's pretty discouraging.

Thank you all for stepping up and doing such an awesome job!!

Good job, Team!  We may not come in first or even second but we did a great job on the profiles we worked!!
