Need a record for Jane McLammon born circa 1777 Co. Antrim, Ireland

Question

I have some records for William Houston (Houston-5693) who was the son of William Houston and Jane McLammon (according to family records but no historical verification). On Houston-5693's death record his mother is listed as Jane. On family search it lists her as Jane McAmont. However, there appear to be no other records for either Jane McLammon or Jane McAmont when searched through FindMyPast. There is a record on Ancestry.com which states her name as McLammon or McAmont but I can't access that as I don't have a subscription for Ancestry. But if the name hasn't been decided on there I would think they couldn't find records either. Any suggestions on where to look next or whether it is unlikely there will be any records? thanks, Melanie

Addit: I also joined RootsIreland.ie but can't see much without a subscription. But a quick search revealed that the name McLammon exists, just no records for a Jane McLammon.

Oh that's useful, at least in showing a different spelling of the same name. I'd tried using Mac Mc M' and then ending with en, on, an, in but hadn't thought to drop one m. Thanks for that.

Births, marriages and deaths were not required to be registered in Ireland until the mid 1840's,  there are some parish records earlier but one must know what parish to see if records exist. There are no census records prior to 1851 for Antrim and although there are the Tithe Applotment records and Griffiths Valuation they list only the heads of the family.  However sometimes there is mention in the historical informaiton about the location for the family or in the newspapers.   Antrim was and is a fairly big place.

If you do a general search for William Houston, Antrim, Ireland and a date you will come up with many however there is a William Houston buried   https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/219616011/william-houston and a dear soul posted the Presbyterian records going back to the 1799's for the same parish that the William Houston is buried in, perhaps some of his children could be located as being baptized in the parish which might connect to something.  Presbyterian records are notoriously difficult to get access to.  https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=521542.0

As the cemetery listing for William Houston shows there are newspapers which may show the marriage or children born to William and Jane which may lead you to more information.

Thanks Lynn. Yes, I've previously seen this grave but sadly it is not the same William Houston - as evidenced by the children.
