Could Abraham Maze (father of Lt Montgomery Maze, a Pony Express rider) have married for a second time in 1851/2?

While researching for more sources for Abraham Maze-452 I came across an interesting publication that I think could be relevant, and I would love to hear your thoughts.

The journal discusses a wife of a Abraham Maze who was admitted to Orange County Asylum in the mid to late 1850's, unfortunately no name is given for her and she's only mentioned by a pseudonym. It's also mentioned that she had a half brother but he is also not named. The link to the page is in the research notes.

Perhaps she was named in the court records for Abraham's estate? Maybe there's a way to search Orange County Asylum records? I've tried googling it but I couldn't even find "Orange County Asylum" at all....

Any ideas on where to look for more info?

Pam:

I answered again because I found something even better.

Here are reprinted documents from the original case in the Supreme Court of Orange County, New York (the trial court in this case), from 1880.

There is more factual information. They allege that Abraham married Jane Vankeuren on or about December 11, 1850. It also specifically identifies Abraham as dying on or about January 24, 1875.

Pam:

You are not the only one that has reached the conclusion that there was a second wife:

P.S.  Look at this newspaper report from the Rockland County Journal in the attachment under the heading "Contests Father's Will."  It says that the son Montgomery filed a will contest because his father left everything to his second wife in his will.  The time is weird because it appears to be from 1904?  Same family or just a really weird coincidence (which is what I think it is)?

Thank you do much Roger!!! This is so exciting laugh

I think its no coincidence,  laugh  it seems the 1904 article is discussing the death of Abraham Maze junior.
