Error not on the trusted list??? [closed]

I added Cynthia both as a trusted member and as manager so don't understand why it would throw this error, especially since she should be able to add a child without being on the trusted list. It is an open profile.

If the error message Cynthia is getting is literally "You are not on the Trusted List of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barnes-25037" then I wonder if she might be entering "https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barnes-25037" in the box where it says "Connect an existing profile as his father". That box just wants the WikiTree id, so in this case just Barnes-25037.

More likely this is a recurrence of a recently reported bug where a "not on trusted list" error message wrongly appears and profiles cannot be connected. For example see this G2G question.

In one case the problem had gone away by the following day. Connie, would you like to try again soon, and let us know if you then succeed?

Yeah, considering how frequently this has been reported lately there has to be some bug somewhere. Hopefully I'll figure it out.

We are going to make two changes that will hopefully reduce some of the errors --

First, we are going to update the error message so if someone enters an invalid ID it will tell them that instead of the "not on the TL" message.

Second, if someone enters a full URL of a profile instead of just an ID, we are going to convert the URL into an ID so it counts as valid.

Once those are in place we can see if there is some other bug still lurking.

Thanks, Jamie. I'd asked Cynthia to try again but last I looked, she hadn't done that. It will most likely work now. I wish this was an answer instead of a comment. I'd mark it as best answer. Thanks again.

The changes still need to go live, but it hopefully it will work if she uses "Barnes-25037" as the ID.

And if there is still a bug, I can just attach them with my sysop powers so she won't have to wait any longer.
