My ancestor, Francis Fryrear Sr. (Fryrear-7), served in the Commonwealth of Virginia militia, namely the 56th regiment of Virginia in 1792 and the 57th regiment in 1793. That is AFTER the Revolution and therefore there appears to be no appropriate Category at this time. This militia served primarily to address security issues in frontier areas (battles against Native Americans, rebellions if any, etc.). Can we get an appropriate Category to use?
