I discovered last year that my 6th great grandmother was Innocent Borden.  

Ironically, Innocent Borden killed three Indian men during a raid on their property when the Indians broke in trying to slaughter the family and destroy their home, The Indians did manage to kill some children in the yard, but Innocent Borden managed to kill three of them with an AXE before the rest of them fled.

Innocent Borden was from New Jersey, the 2nd cousin of Lizzie Borden.  Lizzie Borden is therefore, my 7th cousin. I was quite surprised to say the least since my family history would be the least likely candidate to be related to the Borden family.

I looked it up on the Relationship Finder and I found that I am a 7th cousin twice removed. I am related to both her father and her mother. I am a 6th cousin 3 times removed to Andrew Borden and a 7th cousin twice removed to Sarah Morse Borden. We are all related through Richard Borden and Joan Fowle. I also found that Winston Churchill is an 8th great grandson to Richard Borden through his mother and that I am a 9th cousin to Winston. That means Winston was a cousin to Lizzie as the rest of us are. The Bordens were a prolific lot, relationships to Martin Luther King Jr and George S Patton and other famous people twine through Amy Borden Foster's daughter, Rebecca through to me and countless cousins.
